CÉIM Collaborative Learner
CÉIM is an academic peer learning programme for 1st year University of Galway students and is run
as a partnership between students, academic staff and University of Galway Students’ Union.
CÉIM supports students to transition successfully to university, make friends and create connections
within their subject area, develop a sense of belonging, gain a greater understanding of coursework,
and ultimately proceed to 2nd year. 1st year students meet weekly with their peers and student
leaders in small CÉIM groups where the atmosphere is welcoming and inclusive.
To earn this badge this student must:
• Voluntarily attend 65% or more CÉIM academic peer learning sessions for 1st year students.
• Complete two online reflections on collaborative work, skills development, and independent
learning.
• Gain experience in teamwork, communication, and planning.
• Practice group work and active learning techniques.
