Laboratory Skills Demonstration
Final year Microbiology students participate in second year undergraduate practical classes as
laboratory demonstrators, under the supervision of the academic laboratory co-ordinator. The final
year student demonstrates, supervises, and offers feedback to second year undergraduate students
on their scientific writing.
The final year student assists with laboratory organisation, and experimental set-up. Participants will
receive this badge in recognition of their work in completing the lab demonstrating component of the
Scientific Communications module MI 4104.
To earn this badge the student must:
• Under supervision, attend designated sessions, for 3 hours per week for the duration of 6 weeks to
support undergraduate practical teaching.
